Social media influencer Gcinile Twala, who has suffered untold humiliation after her fiancé Themba Silahle leaked their sex tape on social media, has described in detail how he hit her on the head with a bottle of Jägermeister after assaulting her several times in their love nest in the past three years.
In the affidavit she filed in the Johannesburg High Court, in which she is seeking to interdict Silahle from leaking more sex videos of her, Twala painted the father of her child as a monster who beat her up on four occasions since they started dating.
In the affidavit, which Sunday World has seen, Twala said she started dating Silahle on May 4, 2021, after they met on social media in 2019.
She said that although she was running her own business, Silahle spoiled her. However, her joy was shortlived after she became aware that he was a woman basher.
She said on February 20, 2022, on her birthday, Silahle proposed to her and bought her a brand new Mercedes-Benz as part of the proposal and a birthday gift.
“I was excited and joyfully accepted the proposal, as it was my wish to get married and to spend the rest of my life with him,” she said.
Twala Said She Fell Pregnant With His Child In March 2022.
She said Silahle beat her up for the first time after they moved to Cape Town in 2022.
“A few months after moving in with the respondent, he became controlling and abusive, and this is when I experienced the first incident of physical abuse by him.
“He assaulted me with an open hand by slapping me in the face. I was deeply disturbed and hurt by this; however, I didn’t press charges due to the fact that he sincerely apologised and begged me for forgiveness, claiming that it would never happen again.
“He even went as far as to buy me extravagant gifts to show me how sorry he was, and I forgave him,” she said in the application.
Twala Said On Christmas Day Of 2022, Silahle Physically Assaulted Her Again.
“Again, he apologised immediately -after the incident and even cried, expressing how sorry he was and that it was an honest mistake. Even this time, I did not report him and chose to stay.
“Things were normal for a while after the second incident, and we continued to live together as a couple,” she stated.
She said things turned worse after the birth of their daughter when he started bringing his floozies into their home. When she confronted him, he threatened to polish her off.
“He would even bring them to the home that he shared with myself and our child. He started to show no regard for my feelings at all and constantly reminded me that I was nothing without him and that I had no friends or anyone else apart from him.
“When I confronted him about these relationships, he continued to bring different females home and threatened to kill me if I tried to leave him,” she said.
He said when they had some discord, he would call her names, including “hoe (sic), gold digger, prostitute,” amongst other things”.
After Years Of Tolerating His Abuse, She Dumped Him Late Last Year, She Said.
“I decided to leave the relationship and move back home after an incident that occurred in late 2023 in which the respondent physically assaulted me by hitting me in the head using a bottle of Jägermeister in the presence of our daughter, who was less than a year old,” Twala stated in the affidavit.
“When this incident happened, the respondent threatened to kill me, and I had to run and hide in the bathroom with our daughter for hours while he was enraged, insisting that I open the door and let him in.
“I feared not only for my own life, but for our daughter’s life as well, and this is when I finally came to the true realisation that I had to leave him.”
