Nondumiso Simelane confirmed that the couple’s son was born on a Wednesday.

“Babes and her newborn baby boy are perfectly fine, well and healthy. She is so much excited about this new journey of motherhood. First, she got married to the love of her life, and now she is a mother to a blessing. The Maphumulo and Simelane family are over the moon with excitement,” she said in a statement.

Nhlanhla turned two on June 16 2023. Babes Wodumo admitted having “mixed emotions” on the day.

“It’s your birthday today. A part of me misses ubaba wakho cause I know for sure this day was his favourite day. It was special even though you share the same birthday month but on this.

“It’s been different without my Mampintsha. I had to learn to make decisions on my own.”

The announcement on Wednesday coincides with the release of the trailer for the couple’s upcoming Showmax reality series, Uthando Lodumo.

“Unkulunkulu emuhle njalo (God is always good)” Babes captioned a photo taken at the hospital with her newborn. “Our beautiful blessing is finally here,” she continued.\

    • In the picture, the tiny tot was dressed in navy slippers and a beige beanie with his uniform. He could be seen smiling and eager to learn.
    • Sponge seems to be still learning how to stand and walk on his own, as he doesn’t appear to be standing upright in one of the pictures. And, in the rest of the shared pictures, he is held by an older woman that might be one of the gqom queen’s aunties or Sponge’s nanny.
    • After netizens viewed the one pictures, their hearts were pulled by the cuteness overload in the little boy’s attire.

    One of the commenters wrote,

    “So cute ❤️.”

    Another commenter said,

“Woow! So cute. Fuze mamakhe [Just like his mama] .❤️❤️❤️❤️”

In one of the pictures shared, Babes Wodumo zoomed into the uniform’s logo on Sponge’s shirt pocket which read:

“SW – Sponge Wodumo Primary School.”

Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo hosted a colorful Sip and See party for their son , Sponge Wodumo, three months after his arrival.(August 2021)

The party provided an opportunity to have friends and family over at one time to meet and greet a new baby or child shortly after birth. It allows the parents, who may be exhausted, to introduce the new addition to the family to everyone at once, rather than spreading out visits over weeks or months.

“Sponge Wodumo’s Baby view party. I wanna thank everyone who made my day yesterday I have no words I don’t know where to start from the bottom of my heart thank you,” Babes said
