Tyla’s comment follows revelations by Home Affairs suggesting that Adetshina’s South African citizenship may have been fraudulently obtained.

In a related news, Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina has been invited to participate in Miss Universe Nigeria by the organiser. Chidimma withdrew from Miss South Africa despite being a Top 11 Finalist, after facing harassment and controversy surrounding her mother’s citizenship.

    The Statement reads;

Apologies: A few days before the Miss South Africa pageant, contestant Chidimma Adeshina has withdrawn from the competition. The former candidate for the title of Miss South Africa found herself at the center of a controversy over her nationality.

Broadcaster and media personality Lerato Kganyago has taken to X, formerly Twitter, to apologize to South Africans following a cheating case involving the mother of Miss SA finalist Chidimma Adeshina.

There is no doubt that Lerato Kganyago was not spared her troubles when the Department of Home Affairs revealed that Chidimma Adeshina’s mother had allegedly committed identity theft to obtain South African citizenship.

DJ Sbu, real name Sbusiso Leope, has apologized for offending anyone for standing by Miss SA finalist Chidimma Adetshina as her eligibility to represent the country was in question as she was born in South Africa to a Nigerian father.

Defending Chidimma, Sbu had said many were practicing “selective anger” and called for a shift towards positive energy and constructive action.

Now, following news of alleged fraud and identity theft at play in Chidimma’s birth and the opening of a citizenship inquiry, DJ Sbu says he will wait for the judiciary to take up his case.

“I apologize unreservedly. I believe in the future and the potential of young people. I live for the success of young people and will always play my part to help young people progress in life. So I want to apologize without apology.

“I love South Africans, I spread positive energy. If I said something that offended you, I want to apologize. But again, we must always stand by our youth and let the law take its course.

“It doesn’t matter, you can insult me. ..We all have a Miss SA 2024 on Saturday. »

In a statement posted on her official Instagram account, the 23 year old expressed her gratitude to those who have supported her during her Miss SA journey.

She said , “Being part of the Miss South Africa 2024 competition has been an amazing journey however, after much careful consideration, I have made the difficult decision to withdraw myself from the competition for the safety and wellbeing of my family and I.

“With the support of the Miss South Africa organisation, I leave with a heart full of gratitude for this amazing experience.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish my fellow finalists all of the best for the remainder of the competition. Whoever wears the crown represents us all,”

In a related news, The Department of Home Affairs has found prima facie evidence that Miss SA contestant Chidimma Adetshina’s mother may have committed fraud.

The disputed and high-profile citizenship status of Miss South Africa candidate Chidimma Adeshina took a new turn on Wednesday when the Department of Home Affairs said it had found prima facie indications of alleged fraud perpetrated by her mother.

Since it became public that Adeshina was born to a Nigerian father and a South African mother of Mozambican descent, her eligibility as a Miss South Africa candidate and her citizenship have been questioned.

The department believes that Adetshina’s mother may have stolen the identity of another South African woman when registering the birth. Home Affairs has broadened its investigation to identify and pursue other officials involved in the fraud.

The DHA has found initial evidence of fraud involving Chidimma Adetshina’s mother in its ongoing investigation into Adetshina’s citizenship, initiated by a request from the Miss SA event organizers.

The investigation, which includes extensive research and site visits suggests that Adetshina’s mother may have committed fraud and identity theft in 2001, impacting an innocent South African woman.

Adetshina, who was an infant at the time, is not implicated. The Department is expanding its investigation to identify involved officials and plans to press charges. The case underscores the need for digital modernization of Home Affairs processes to prevent fraud.

The department said it could advise that: “There are prima facie reasons to believe that identity fraud and theft may have been committed by the person registered in the Home Office records as the mother of Chidimma Adeshina.

However, the ministry said Adeshina could not have participated in her mother’s alleged illegal acts because she was a child when the activities took place in 2001.
