Burna Boy has shot up trends lists after his reaction to the crowning of Free State model and student Mia le Roux as Miss South Africa 2024.

This after former contestant Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina was at the centre of a debate about her eligibility to represent the nation, with detractors questioning her South African identity and suitability as an ambassador for the country because, while she was born in South Africa, her father is Nigerian.

Though Chidimma pulled out of the contest after it was found that her mother of Mozambican descent possibly committed identity fraud in 2001 to get citizenship, she has received an invitation to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.

Nigerian superstar Burna Boy took to X posting a picture of Mia le Roux with the caption: “So after all that …” with laughing emojis.

Burna Boy has broken his silence on the recent #MissSA2024 pageant, situation.

The competition gained significant attention from Nigerians following the withdrawal of finalist Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina due to a fraud case involving her mother.

Being born by a Nigerian father was what led to Chidimma’s suffering in the hands of South Africans.

South African Organisers announced Mia le Roux as a winner.

While Mia le Roux’s victory was widely celebrated, South Africans are being dragged by Nigerians for allegedly mistreating Chidimma and presenting a white winner.

Burna Boy, known for his tensions with South Africa, subtly commented on the controversy on Twitter with the words “So after all that 😂.”

Another user, @B__master, commented: “She’s ours. Miss South Africa, and we are proud she won. Take care of Chichi for us there.”

@mabasotf said: “I hate how you guys are disingenuous about the issues that South Africans are raising. You should be calling out your brothers for doing illegal things here, which is damaging the reputation of well-meaning Nigerians. Educate your people; don’t be a dumb troll.”

A comment by @RefilweSeboko read: “Let’s bookmark this tweet. It will be needed in the future.”

Another user, @Big_Rossie said: “She’s beautiful, and Chidinma is beautiful, but SA people shouldn’t have done what they did.”

Recall that South African singer Tyla also reacted to the controversy surrounding Chidimma’s nationality. In a post on her X page on Saturday, the “Water” singer said: “I will always stand with South Africa. Regardless of opinions, Chidimma was bullied, and that’s what I don’t stand for.”
